JEAN QINGWEN LOO

Jean is an independent photographer, producer and writer. Fascinated with real experiences, she is passionate about living a life of adventure and creating social dialogue.
Some highlights of her young career include The Children of Mekong, a project for the Lien Foundation that humanized water and sanitation issues through multimedia stories. She was also commissioned by HSBC Bank to document youth expeditions to Puerto Rico’s rainforest and Iceland’s glaciers for two consecutive years. Jean has garnered a number of awards at the International Photography Awards (2009) and was recognised in the Photo District News Photo Annual (2009, 2010). In 2009, she was selected for the Eddie Adams workshop in New York City and was featured in Female and Asian Photography magazine as an emerging talent. Her corporate clients include the likes of IDEO, JTC Corporation and National Heritage Board.
Jean is constantly inspired by the people around her and hopes to be a light for others. In 2011, she was one of the youngest professionals selected by the National Arts Council to guide budding photographers as part of its NOISE Singapore movement. She was also part of a faculty involved in the inaugural Junior Shooting Home – Singapore’s first mentorship programme for youths aged 15 to 18.
